Meet Iberville Museum’s newest hire, Joyce Verret Ferguson!
Ferguson began working for the museum in October as our second Curatorial Assistant. She is a native of Iberville Parish with her family roots extending to Bayou Chene, in the Atchafalaya Basin. She is married to Quinton Ferguson, a Vietnam Veteran and lifelong resident of Iberville Parish. They have been married for forty-two years, have three sons, and eight grandchildren.
Ferguson is a graduate of Plaquemine High and has earned a Bachelors Degree in Christian Theology from IMI Institute in Pensacola, Florida. She served as an Iberville Parish Visitors Service Specialist for a number of years, and she worked at the Plaquemine Lock from 2003 to 2016. Ferguson has done extensive research on the history of the Plaquemine Lock and documentation on the Freshwater Diversion Project. She enjoys history and is looking forward to her work at Iberville Museum.
